Beckstrasse and Sternstrasse in Hamburg

The very first time we visited Hamburg, a friend of my wife took us for a walking tour of the Schanzenviertel or Schanze. And she took us as well through the street you can see above. I am sure she explained us the history behind this sort of narrow streets and lined up houses, but I honestly don't remember.

I have been looking on the Internet, but I just cannot find much. I am sure there is information, but my German is still not good enough to know where or how to look. Either the key above has a special significance, or, probably, refers to a guesthouse in this building. The streets parallel to Beckstrasse are similar but not as nice. And if you still have not noticed, Strasse is German for street. Anyway, I will try to get more information about this particular area and nicer photos.

Right now is very cold here in Hamburg and is raining. It doesn't look like the weather is going to be better in the next days. Outside we have 6 degrees. And today I have my German language course.
