Before I came to live in Germany, it was a bit difficult to find books about photography at a good price. Normally this kind of books are very expensive. From 25 Euro upwards. The other option was Amazon UK, where the prices are very good, but I had to wait up to 4 weeks for the books to arrive. However, each time I visited Köln (Cologne), Stuttgart or Hamburg, we were going back home with an extra bag with two or three (heavy) photography books.
I still have to find a bookshop with books as affordable as in Köln (where the Taschen editorial is by the way). But the bookshop above, the Zweitausendeins, is a very good option. I bought there last week a Phaidon book that before was 50 Euro and I got it for 6. No, the books are not second hand. They are new.
The photo above is the bookshop that is in the Colonnade. Next to the lower Alster. Each time I am around there, I take a look to see what they have. Most of the books are in German but they do have some in English and in French. There is another bookshop from Zweitausendeins around the are of Grindelhof, which I expected to be bigger, but looks like it is not.
And a big surprise! I got my books from Amazon today! I ordered them last Sunday and here they are. God bless the marvelous German post!! As I said, where we used to live before, I had to wait for at least 4 weeks.
