Last Friday we went to walk around Hamburg. We do that often in the cities where we have lived. We explore the city by foot. That's a very good way to find things you would otherwise miss. We started with a walk around our home, and later we walked to the Speicherstadt, or the old warehouses of Hamburg. You can see how the buildings look in the first 3 photos above.
The Speicherstad is surrounded by water, as is just next to the Elbe river. It is here where the next opera house will be built, and a massive project for houses, departments and offices is taking place, as you can see above.
We were happy to see the first coffee shop we visited in our first time in Hamburg: the Fleetschlösschen, pictured in the photo above. Is a wonderful, quiet, family run place where you get coffee, home made pastries and food. It is excellent for taking a rest after a long walk in Hamburg. Highly recommended!!
Before we left the Speicherstadt, we tried our luck tossing a coin to this big stick coming out of the river. We both missed it.
