Yesterday I went to my new German course. It is actually B1. Normally I was supposed to go on to A2.2 but I choose to go a bit further. And I was a bit shocked yesterday.
First of all, in the course there are 10 men and 2 women. One is from Turkey (I guess) and the other one from Bolivia. Second, it was more complicated than I expected. I did not have any problem understanding the teacher or the classmates. It was the subject, a little bit difficult. But honestly I prefer this. This is how I am going to learn a little bit faster.
On the other side, yesterday I sent my CV to 14 companies here in Germany. I choose what I considered were the bigger ones in my area or companies where I could work. Considering that I still have a basic knowledge of German, I must choose where I can and where I cannot work. I already received some replies saying that they don't have openings at the moment. It is very nice of them to write back. That's much better than wondering if they got my CV at all. Of course the best would be an email saying that they do have an offer for me.
But today I want to share a bit of the nice parts of Hamburg. Three years ago, in my first visit to the city, what caught my attention the most was the City Hall or Rathaus. It is impressive. My wife told me some days ago that it has more rooms than the Buckingham Palace. It is in the center of the city, of course. And from here you can explore Hamburg. You can walk to the main shopping street (Mönckebergstrasse), to one of the lakes/rivers of Hamburg - the Alster -, to explore the canals, etc. Very nice starting point of a tour in the Hanseatic city.
I'll go now, I have to go and pick up a parcel at the Post. I ordered some books from Amazon some days ago. They are supossed to arrive on friday. Could that be?
