Last weekend, just by pure coincidence, we went to the "Hamburger Dom". We were walking in the northwestern area of Hamburg, and we found ourselves at the entrance of this amusement park. The Hamburger Dom is three times a year: in spring, in summer and in winter.
There are stands were you can find: typical German food, such as sausages, mushrooms with garlic cream, the Lebkuchen (or heart shaped honey cakes), etc; amusements where you pay for a gift (I am not sure how can I describe these, but they are a rip off. You buy a dozen of small papers, that you can later exchange for a "gift"); amusements for children, amusements for teenagers and amusements for people over 18.
I have never been a fan of this kind of places, nor of the amusements. However, we decided to ride one of the ones for children. The one you can see in the photos. Well, we are getting old. We are in the early thirties and already this was too much for us. We thought it was going to be light fun, but nope. It was stronger that we thought.
We are getting old. I cannot imagine how it would be when we are 50. I still enjoyed the place. It is very similar to the atmosphere you might find in the Volksfest in Stuttgart or the Oktoberfest in Munich (without the drunk people of course) or the Weihnachtsmarkt (no Gluhwein, or warm wine, though).
