Architecture Hamburg: the Deichtor Center

On my first visit to Hamburg, around two years ago, I remember very well this building. It was a grayish day, rainy, as many days in Hamburg are, and the structure, the shape, and its characteristics caught my attention. As I said before, many buildings in Hamburg are designed intentionally to look like, or inspired by, large ships. This triangular-shaped offices building is located some meters away from the main train station is called the "Deichtor Center".

The Deichtor Center houses big shipping companies, the northern Germany offices of ZDF, a TV channel, some marketing agencies (in fact, one of my classmates from my German class works here), and the buro of the Architect Hadi Teherani. I spoke about him in past posts, as the designer of the Berliner Tor building and the Dockland Offices by the Alster.

As you can see in the next photo of the Deichtor Center, there seems to be a relatively large area with trees inside the building, which makes it yet more interesting. I am also including a photo I found on the internet of the place where it was built in 2001. I am no architect, but I really find this buildings very very interesting.

Today I am going to meet my tandem partner again, in the area of St. Pauli. I will take more photos to post in the next days. I still have to call the other girl who is interested on doing the tandem as well. Mmm.
